Root-Cause Medicine in Texas

Heal the Root Cause and Feel Like Yourself Again

I specialize in:

WHat is functional medicine and how does it work?

Functional medicine is a patient-centered, root-cause approach to health care. Instead of only treating symptoms, we look deeper at how your body systems—hormones, gut, immune system, and environment—are connected. We use advanced lab testing to identify imbalances, then create a personalized plan with nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and medications when needed. The goal is to restore balance and help your body heal naturally and holistically.

How is Functional Medicine DIfferent?

Functional medicine integrates traditional Western medical practices with what are sometimes considered “alternative” or “integrative” medicine, creating a focus on prevention through nutrition, diet, and exercise; use of the latest laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques; and prescribed combinations of drugs and/or botanical medicines, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, or stress-management techniques.

Let me introduce myself:

Hi, I’m Xenia—a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in functional medicine. I provides functional, integrative, and personalized medicine with virtual appointments available for Texas residents.

After struggling for years with my own unresolved health issues, I discovered that mold illness was the root cause—sparking my commitment to help others find answers through a root-cause, whole-body approach.

I blend advanced lab testing, nutrition, lifestyle, and, when needed, medication to help patients truly heal.

I’m trained in functional medicine by the Institute for Functional Medicine, Psychiatry Redefined by Dr Greenblatt, with an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and a graduate degree from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

I am proud to support patients virtually through telemedicine across Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and all of Texas.

The Integrative and Functional Medicine Process

At Your Functional Health, the sequence in which we approach healing makes all the difference. Once we’ve identified the downstream symptoms affecting your daily life, we carefully trace them back to their underlying causes — addressing each layer through an integrative, functional medicine lens.

Here’s how we guide your healing step by step:

  1. Dietary Adjustments – Rebuild health from the foundation up with personalized nutrition that reduces inflammation and supports cellular repair.

  2. Allergen Removal or Avoidance – Identify and minimize triggers from foods, environment, or toxins that burden your immune system.

  3. Gut Health – Restore balance to your microbiome to improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune resilience.

  4. Nutrient Intake – Replete key vitamins and minerals essential for energy, hormone balance, and detoxification.

  5. Hormone Balance – Optimize thyroid, adrenal, and reproductive hormones for sustained mood, metabolism, and vitality.

  6. Support Detoxification – Strengthen liver, bile, lymphatic, and cellular detox pathways to clear toxins safely.

  7. Enhance Metabolism – Improve energy production, mitochondrial efficiency, and glucose regulation for lasting vitality.

  8. Understand Genetic Factors – Use genetic and epigenetic insights (like MTHFR or detox SNPs) to tailor your plan uniquely to you.

  9. Encourage Mind-Body Balance – Incorporate mindfulness, nervous-system regulation, and restorative practices for whole-body healing.

  10. Address Subtle Infections – Identify and manage chronic or hidden infections that perpetuate inflammation and fatigue.
